Measuring Time Management Skills
The Assessment of Time Management Skills (ATMS)
The Assessment of Time Management Skills (ATMS) was created by Suzanne White along with LGO to measure participants’ perceived time management skills (White et al., 2017). The ATMS consists of 27 items designed to measure three subscales of time management: time management, organization/planning, and emotional regulation. Each item on this self-assessment was scored on a 4-point response scale. The ATMS was originally tested on a population of individuals without disabilities and found to be a valid measure with good test-retest reliability and internal consistency (White et al., 2013). A Swedish version was translated and psychometric properties were investigated, using Rasch analysis and weighted item responses based on their significance to the subscale (White et al., 2017). The weighting of responses provides a more robust view of each subscale. Rasch analysis of the original (English) version was completed and construct validity and reliability were determined to be strong when using the three subscales identified in the Swedish analysis (Roshanai et al., 2021).
